Vacancy 1: Head of Department – Public Works, Roads and Transport

The province is looking for a dynamic and visionary leader to head the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport as Superintendent-General.

What You’ll Earn

• Annual package of R2.35 million
• Additional 10% Head of Department allowance

What You Need

✔ SAQA-recognised postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8)
✔ Minimum 10 years of senior management experience
✔ Strong strategic leadership and governance expertise
✔ In-depth understanding of infrastructure and transport administration

Candidates with built environment qualifications will have an added advantage.

Your Role Will Include

• Leading major infrastructure and transport programmes
• Driving service delivery and departmental performance
• Managing provincial roads, public works, and EPWP initiatives
• Ensuring PFMA compliance and sound governance
• Overseeing budgets, operations, and human resources

This is a five-year contract position and includes competency and security assessments.

Vacancy 2: Deputy Director-General – Institutional Development Support and Integrity Management

The Office of the Premier is also recruiting a highly skilled Deputy Director-General to strengthen governance, institutional development, and integrity management across provincial departments.

Salary Package

💼 R1.81 million per annum

Minimum Requirements

✔ Postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8
✔ At least 8 years of senior management experience
✔ Expertise in governance, institutional support, and leadership
✔ Strong communication and people management skills

Key Responsibilities

• Lead integrity management and institutional support programmes
• Oversee forensic investigations and security services
• Support transformation and governance initiatives
• Guide HR policy development and implementation
• Manage ICT, legal, communication, and support services

This permanent executive role also requires competency testing and security vetting.
