Are you a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in the public sector? The Department of Electricity and Energy (DEE) is offering an exciting 24-month Graduate Internship Programme designed to help young professionals build skills, confidence, and real-world workplace exposure.

Unemployed graduates across multiple disciplines are invited to apply, with graduates living with disabilities strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

What the Internship Offers

This programme provides practical training, mentorship, and professional development in a structured government environment. Interns will be based in Pretoria and will gain valuable exposure to public sector operations while developing career-ready skills.

  • Monthly Stipend: R7 860.38

  • Location: Pretoria

  • Duration: 24 months (2026/2027 – 2027/2028)

Fields of Study Considered

Graduates with a Degree or National Diploma in the following fields may apply:

  • Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering

  • Public Administration or Public Management

  • Business Management

  • Law (LLB)

  • Internal Audit

  • Administration or Office Administration

  • Finance, Accounting, or Management Accounting

  • Graphic Design or Integrated Communication Design

  • Financial Management

  • Social Services, Psychology, or Social Work

  • Supply Chain Management

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is open to South African graduates who:

  • Have not previously participated in a Government Internship Programme

  • Require workplace exposure or experiential learning (a letter from the institution is required)

  • Are able to arrange their own accommodation and transport
