🎓 Who Should Apply?
DBE is looking for dynamic professionals who bring strong leadership and technical expertise in research and evaluation. Ideal candidates will have:
-
A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) or SAQA-recognised equivalent
-
Four or more years’ experience at Assistant Director level (or equivalent), including supervisory responsibilities
-
Hands-on experience in research coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and project management
-
At least two years managing education-sector evaluations, including large-scale surveys and data collection
-
A solid understanding of basic education policies and legislation
-
A proven track record as a lead author of research or evaluation reports
-
Advanced analytical skills across quantitative and qualitative data
-
Proficiency in MS Office and statistical software such as R or STATA
-
Experience developing monitoring tools and presenting findings to diverse stakeholders
Experience working with national education datasets or contributing to education system reform research will be a strong advantage.
📝 What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:

Lead and coordinate research, monitoring, and evaluation initiatives across the Department

Design and manage large-scale research and evaluation projects that inform national education policy

Strengthen planning, monitoring, and evaluation capacity within the DBE
-
Collaborate with universities, research bodies, and strategic partners
-
Represent the Department at local and international conferences, seminars, and research forums
