The successful candidate will play a central role in:
- Leading major national energy programmes and projects
- Guiding South Africa’s nuclear energy strategy and international compliance
- Overseeing state-owned energy entities
- Driving investment-focused energy policy reforms
- Building international energy partnerships
- Strengthening organisational performance and talent development
This role is ideal for a highly experienced executive with exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, governance expertise, and deep insight into the energy and public administration sectors.
Exceptional Executive Package
The appointed Director-General will receive:
- An all-inclusive annual salary package of R2,352,642
- An additional 10% non-pensionable allowance for the Head of Department role
- The opportunity to influence national policy at the highest level
Who Should Apply?
The department is looking for dynamic and accomplished professionals who possess:
- An Honours Degree or postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Public Management, Administration, Economics, or Energy Engineering
- A valid Nyukela Certificate for Senior Management Services
- A valid driver’s licence
- At least 10 years of senior management experience in the public service
A master’s degree will provide a competitive advantage.
Candidates with expertise in energy policy, public finance management, stakeholder engagement, project finance, and legislative governance are especially encouraged to apply.
