The Department of Tourism is recruiting for the following high-level positions based in Pretoria:
- Deputy Director-General: Tourism Research, Policy and International Relations
(Ref: DT 30/2026) - Deputy Director-General: Corporate Management
(Ref: DT31/2026)
Both positions offer a highly competitive all-inclusive salary package of R1 813 182 per annum.
Lead the Future of South African Tourism
The successful candidates will join the department’s executive leadership team and play a critical role in driving transformation, strengthening governance, enhancing service delivery, and advancing South Africa’s tourism strategy on both local and international platforms.
Deputy Director-General: Tourism Research, Policy and International Relations
This executive role is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong expertise in tourism policy, international relations, research, and stakeholder engagement.
The successful candidate will:
- Drive tourism research and policy innovation
- Strengthen international partnerships and tourism diplomacy
- Lead strategic sector collaboration
- Support African regional tourism integration
- Guide governance, performance, and programme evaluation
Deputy Director-General: Corporate Management
The department is also seeking an accomplished leader to modernise and strengthen corporate systems across the organisation.
Key focus areas include:
- Human resources and labour relations
- ICT and digital transformation
- Governance and legal support
- Risk management and internal controls
- Organisational development and service delivery improvement
Who Should Apply?
The Department of Tourism is looking for highly experienced professionals who possess:
- A SAQA-recognised NQF Level 8 qualification
- At least 8 years of senior management experience
- Strong leadership, governance, and strategic management skills
- Experience within public sector administration or corporate services
Candidates with advanced qualifications such as a Master’s Degree or PhD will have an added advantage.
